System Overview
The main objective behind the RideBuilder software is to give web site
visitors complete control to build their dream car in a virtual environment.
They can mix and match from any or all of the products your company sells.
And, when they are ready to purchase, they can add those products they
select directly into your existing eCommerce solution.
By building their own personal vehicle, to their ultimate vision, the
customer has a dramatically increased emotional connection to the end
result. It is not some random picture of one part on someone else's vehicle — it’s their vision, their ride.
Increase Brand Awareness
These days, it is getting increasingly difficult to differentiate the sheer mass
of aftermarket retailers. This system allows your web site to offer potential
customers a level of control and customization previously not available. This
will make it much easier to get noticed and remembered.
Increase Visitors Through Viral Marketing
Once visitors begin to use the RideBuilder to create their custom rides, a natural
reaction is to share this with others. An optional module allows the visitors
to "save" their vehicle and share that with their buddies. Once there,
the friends are introduced to the system to build their vehicle the way they
want to and then share that with their friends, perpetuating the cycle and dramatically
increasing web traffic.
Why Not 3D?
The primary reason is cost. Web-based 3D engines can start around $60,000,
and that is not including the cost to create the vehicles or the parts. It
is also much easier to add new components in 2D (especially wheels) which
dramatically reduces development time and expense.
Additionally, while 3D software has improved dramatically over recent
years, the technology is not quite caught up in the web environment.
Due to limitations in files size, processing power and download times,
dynamic 3D solutions do not yet provide fast, photo-realistic results.
